Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Siaks Pty Ltd (trading as Inter-Sect Consults) ("we," "us," "our") operates the Wisaal application. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, how long we keep it, and your rights in relation to it. By using the Service you consent to the practices described here.

2. What We Collect

2.1 Account & Identity Information

  • Email address and alias (used to create and identify your account)
  • Gender (used for opposite-gender matching only)
  • Registration country and location (Australia or New Zealand)

2.2 Persona & Matching Data

  • Faith and values data (sect, prayer frequency, Qur'an engagement, halal lifestyle, values survey responses)
  • Intent and commitment data (marriage timeline, marital status, children preferences, wali requirement)
  • Demographic data (age, location, nationality, languages)
  • Lifestyle data (education, profession, smoking, fitness, diet, pets)
  • Physical attributes (height, build) — optional
  • Partner preferences and compatibility settings

2.3 Ephemeral Personal Information (PII)

Real name, email address, and phone number are collected only when you choose to proceed to a Phase 3 handshake reveal. This information is auto-deleted 90 days after the reveal is completed.

2.4 Communication Data

  • In-app messages exchanged between matched users during Phase 2 (Conversation)
  • Voice notes (if sent)

2.5 Verification Data

  • Mandatory: Liveness selfie check (to confirm you are a real person)
  • Optional: Government-issued ID (for premium Identity verification, processed via Stripe Identity)

Important: Identity verification documents are never stored on Wisaal servers. They are processed and held exclusively by Stripe per their security and privacy policies.

2.6 Device & Technical Data

  • Device type, operating system, browser information, and IP address (collected automatically for security and service operation)

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To operate the three-phase matchmaking process (Discovery, Conversation, Reveal)
  • To calculate compatibility scores and surface relevant matches
  • To maintain anonymity during Phase 2 and facilitate handshake reveals at Phase 3
  • To verify your identity and enforce eligibility requirements
  • To send transactional notifications (e.g. new match alerts, verification updates)
  • To detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, and safety issues
  • To comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your persona or conversation data to serve third-party advertising.

4. Data Retention

Wisaal minimises data retention in compliance with the Australian Privacy Act. The following specific retention periods apply:

⏰ Ephemeral PII (Real Name, Email, Phone)

Auto-deleted 90 days after a reveal handshake completes

These details are only collected at Phase 3 and are automatically purged 90 days after mutual disclosure.

💬 Closed Connections & Chat History

Permanently deleted 180 days after connection closure

Match records and all associated messages are deleted 180 days after a connection is closed, retained only for safety and dispute resolution purposes within that window.

🧑 Profile & Preferences

Retained until account deletion

Your faith, lifestyle, values, and partner preferences are retained as long as your account is active. You can delete individual optional fields at any time via your Privacy Dashboard.

✓ Verification Records

Per Stripe's retention policy

Identity documents are never stored on Wisaal servers. Only verification status is maintained in our database.

5. Anonymity and the Matching Stages

  • Phase 1 (Discovery): Your profile is shown to potential matches using your alias only. Real contact details are never shared.
  • Phase 2 (Conversation): Your real name, email, and phone are withheld. You communicate pseudonymously via your alias.
  • Phase 3 (Reveal): Only after both parties mutually agree to a handshake are real identity and contact details exchanged.

6. Data Security

We use commercially accepted technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information. Payment data is handled exclusively by Stripe under PCI-DSS standards. No method of electronic transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take our obligations seriously.

7. Your Rights

Under the Australian Privacy Principles, you have the right to:

  • Access your personal data held by us;
  • Correct inaccurate or outdated information via your profile settings;
  • Delete optional profile fields at any time via your in-app Privacy Dashboard;
  • Delete your account entirely via account settings — your data is then handled per the retention periods in Section 4;
  • Opt out of non-transactional communications;
  • Complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) if you believe we have breached the Privacy Act.

8. Sharing of Information

  • We share your alias and persona data with compatible matches as part of the matching service — never your real identity until a mutual Phase 3 handshake.
  • We share data with Stripe solely to process payments and identity verification.
  • We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to any third party.
  • We may disclose information when required by Australian law, court order, or to protect the safety of our users.

9. Third-Party Services

Wisaal uses Stripe for payment processing and identity verification. Stripe's privacy practices are governed by their own Privacy Policy. We encourage you to review it. We are not responsible for the data practices of external services.

10. Children's Privacy

Wisaal is not intended for use by anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we become aware of such collection, we will delete the information immediately.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via the app or by email before they take effect. The date at the bottom of this page reflects the most recent update.

12. Contact and Complaints

For questions about this Privacy Policy, to exercise any of your rights, or to make a privacy complaint, please contact us through the app's support function. If your concern is not resolved, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au.
